Double Bill Daybills

For some reason, daybills for double bill / double feature films are scarce. There are literally hundreds of British double bill posters and many US as well but there seem to have been very few printed in Australia. Here are a few. I would be interested to see if anyone has other examples

  • Great topic. I have some time restrictions at the present so unable ro respond in full. This will though happen soon when I intend to firstly comment on the posters included above, then to be followed with adding many other examples of double bill printed daybill  images..

Dr No / Goldfinger and Funny Car Summer / On the Line are NZ release but interesting examples. I have probably had more double bill daybills but have never put them into a specific folder so they hard to search for. I will be interested to see what you come up with.

  • I wasn't able to locate an Australian daybill of a Goldfinger and Dr.No double bill re-releas poster, but I did find a nice colour Australian one sheet.

For the first release double bill of Tiger Likes Fresh Blood (1964) and Bite Of The Gorilla (1962) daybill I had dayhiill images of the individual films as appearing below.

The Daniel Boone Trail Blazer (1956) and the Zorro Rides Again (1959) double bill daybill was printed for the Australian first release circa 1976. The two films were released by the very small independent Australian film distributor Consolidated Cinema Distributors. Zorro Rides Again was edited into a feature film from the 1937 serial. This seemed to have taken place to cash in on the popularity  of the previous Walt Disney produced and screened 1957-1959 television series.

I as well as John haven't a specific folder of these produced double bill Australian film posters.  My memory is what is assisting me at present. More to follow soon on providing extra images of double bill Australian posters..
  • I can't recall seeing many double bill daybills from the many thousands of posters I have had over the years. I think that the Tiger Likes Fresh Blood (1964) and Bite Of The Gorilla (1962) daybill is a very rare example but would love to see other similar true double bill daybills if anyone has them. There are a few that mention a cartoon in addition to the main feature but they would not be strictly double bill daybills.
  • Some more double bill daybills but you would think there should be a lot more considering the many double feature posters that were released in the UK and US

  • With the examples of Australian double bill daybills presented here so far, along with some yet to be included examples that I have., it certainly appears that the major distributors didn't as a rule produce this style of poster for first release films. Australian double bill posters were mainly printed for major distributors re-releases, very minor films distributors first release and re-issue product on 16mm and 35mm..
  • Today's images from John has now reduced the number of images that I intend to include here as I also have some of his posted images.I will post three images tomorrow.
