Paging Paul Waines..

I picked up and receieved this quad and when I bought it, I thought it was just being displayed on a piece of paper.  However when I got the poster it actually has a white border around it.  New trend??? It is double sided too...

  • Majority of Quads have a boarder, it's just the more recent that don't...

Nice to see you picking them up still.

Here's some new/recent for me stuff.

Beautiful fotobusta Matt, I'm a fan of them too not only for their saturated colors but the border artwork. When I get back to the desktop I'll post my recent purchase of a Winchester 73 busta ..great image of the nice jimmy Stewart roughing up a crooked cattle herder.. yeah! Anyone picked up inherent vice quad?
  • Thanks Sven. I think fotobustas are under rated.
  • This will need some major restoration if I decide to do it. But picked this up today for cheap.

  • That's awesome Randy. Size?
  • If I recall the seller stated that it was 14.5"x 11.5" which leads me to believe that this is a trimmed WC. I researched it and all I could find with the same artwork was the WC. It would be awesome if the previous owners before having it framed just folded it in half to fit the frame. But my luck that will be a no go lol. Once I have it I will start looking into what it will cost to have it full restored. I think a piece such as this needs to complete.
  • Congrats Randy.  It's definitely the WC but please do not hold your breath too long hoping for the other half to be folded over!
  • Yeah Chris, at best a Frankenstein lobby card used as a backing :P Nice find Randy!! Congratulations!

There is not that much missing when you think about it, less than half the standard printed area - also there is always that hope that the top half is simply folded behind to fit the frame?!

Yeah not a lot missing from it. I highly doubt that anything will be folded over but I can wish and hope lol. I figured for the price I couldn't go wrong with it. Thank you all. I am pretty excited about it as it is my first purchase since April 2014. I have been really picky about what I buy lately. Tired of having stuff I know I will never display.

  • I think with older framing techniques they would dry mount the piece to backing on board rather than fold and frame loose, but u never know! Sometimes the backing has other treasures ! http://www.nytimes.com/1991/04/03/arts/declaration-of-independence-found-in-a-4-picture-frame.html

Paul, wonderful quad. Immitation Game is among my favorite of the year. Loved it on Christmas day. One of maybe four films worth seeing this year -- just not a tremendous year for film (2014) in my opinion.

That looks like the key to Erebor, or is it called Lonely Mountain, wait, or is it Mines of Moria. They have so many names in that series.
  • I'm going to go with the key to Erebor. Final answer.
  • I've heard a lot good feedback about Imitation Game... I must see it now.
  • I do like Cumberbatch as an actor, so will definitely check out Imitation Game, thanks for the recommendation.

Likely this WC was used itself as a backing in a frame and that's why it's cut down in that way without any regard for the artwork really...

My "m" was being imitated by another "m"! Sorry, I meant "Imitation" with one "m" earlier.

Imitation Game is not only outstanding due to it's acting but if you have interest in information technology or computers it's extremely educational in not only better understanding how England finally ended Nazi insanity but seeing the very origins of the computers we now so easily carry in our hands every day.

An absolute must see. Alan Turing (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) will completely alter the way you think of the computer you're now using to read this thread; as well as remind you of what a single human mind is capable of, in achieveing good for all. I'm actually going to cry again right now. I cried in the theater as well and will only leave you with: please do see it and always be thankful for the sacrifices, work and thoughtfulness of others, today, and all those before us.

  • A few of Alan Turing's titles: (played by Benedict Cumberbatch)

Alan Mathison Turing -  b.1912: OBE, FRS was a British computer scientist, mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst, philosopher, mathematical biologist, and marathon and ultra distance runner.

  • Picked this up tonight but it is nothing special.

Forgot to insert the image lol
  • Turing was a a ridiculously brilliant guy who killed himself due to his sexual preferences.

    What a waste.

  • Nice start to the year guys, congrats!
  • A couple that arrived the other day.

  • Notorious! Uber rare...sweet colours too!
  • Love them reg, now that's a happy way to start the new year!
  • Picked up this busta of Jimmy in one of my fav westerns
