• Ignore the negativity, cause it's an easy....

    I'm not a frothing fanboy either, SW7 got a "B" from me....
  • edited December 2017
My daughter and I have already seen it twice in Dolby Cinema and after the first viewing I was a little put off by the jokes but not really anything else.  Then the fan boys started spewing negativity about every little thing and basically said the franchise was dead.  The second time I saw it, I liked it even more! The battle scenes are amazing... The jokes were actually funny because I was expecting them - I caught a lot of little things, etc.

The space battle scenes are hands down the best of all 8 movies - no comparison.

The lightsaber fight scenes are second only to Yoda kicking ass in Attack of the Clones only because it was Yoda.

The ships, guns and weapons are hands down best out of the 8 movies.

Costumes where exact and on point but nothing beats queen Amidala...

    Specific scenes from note...

    Spoilers ahead:
Poe skidding and dropping the hammer was thrilling in the opening battle!

The racing animals through the Casino was spectacular!

The slicing of Snokes ship by ramming them at light speed was over the top - I almost cried. Kept saying yes!  Why has this never been done before?

The scene at the old rebel base was super exciting and they even had the guy from Empire walk out an old man with the viewer.

The closing scene felt so much like the end of the Lucas films with all the characters in it.
It will eventually go down as one of the best ever...

Yes, director Rian Johnson came up with wildly original plot developments (Luke's role at the end, the purple-haired Rebel commander's battle tactics, etc.), so you can see why Disney hired him to handle the next trilogy.

I saw it in a ginormous planetarium with IMAX:

  • The ranting fanboys are just as confused as this lass:

  • I hate 3D and all our theater had was 3D IMAX... Why do they have to ruin movies with 3D?
  • Yes, 3D is a huge FAIL! (except for Avatar, of course, which has FOUR (4) sequels in the pipeline).
  • Getting ready to watch The Last Jedi!

  • Awesome, I hope you enjoyed the movie, I am yet to see it.............
  • Ha Cool Mark!

No pirate video too follow??? ;)

  • FWIW, I put it about in the middle.  I felt it was too predictable.  I didn't like whiny Luke at all, didn't feel Luke could ever be that disillusioned.  A few other things that telegraphed themselves.

My order is Episode 5,4,7,6,8,3,1,2.  Haven't seen rogue1 yet, but am looking forward to it.
  • I write this and hate too. I was not as excited about the film as I thought/hoped I'd be. Agree with Jay, Luke fairly uninspiring, some plot holes/time wasted side stories, too much action that didn't have results?

I don't mind a long movie either but, feel it's below Force Awakens. Hope Abrams can finish I off as it should be. I agree with your order as well, Jay but I would switch 6 & 7.

    You'll like Rogue One!

Hahaha....nothing beats the opening crawl and would've loved to pirate that, but if David would've found out he would have banned me from the forum for having my phone out during a movie!b =)
  • I will say this though, Rey's development as a character was nice and the light saber fights/duels were very good. Ending of movie was very well written! Don't want to sound all negative, there was so much I did like. Will see it a 2nd time in a week and see how I feel then.
  • I too left feeling disappointed. The jokes put me off and that Mary Poppins scene. I didnt care as much about the characters. Loved the red salt lake battle! Then Luke drinking the milk from that beast, weirded me out.

I rate the order like Jay. I enjoy watching Force Awakens for a pick me up!

Keen to hear your thoughts Mark on how Rey developed cause i felt it was kinda on hold, but i might have not been engaged. In any caae i will need to see it again to make a final call.

Watched SW7:TFA on my 'lil TV, liked it much better this time....

    *****

This might be the coolest thing you’ve seen ALL YEAR. So far, at least.

Animator John Stratman recreated the finale of Star Wars: The Last Jedi like it was a Super Nintendo game. And it’s really wonderful. A little static in the middle, but still great

Of course, by “finale” we mean Luke Skywalker facing down the First Order and Kylo Ren, followed by his ultimate end.
