Australian three sheets are rare. The most available number of images are from the 1950's, and there aren't that many of them. There are even fewer existing examples from the 1940's, with the earliest example that I have sighted being South Of Samoa ( a.k.a. Typhoon ) from 1940. Not many examples have surfaced, but from some equally rare Australian press sheets, the images on the Australian Film distributor's copies, where the poster information was printed and can be read and obtained from posted images on Bruce's website and elsewhere, the one sheets are included under accessories on the RKO and Paramount examples at least. The big question is now where are the pre 1940 Australian three sheets? Has anyone every seen an example? A question then to ponder is where they at sometime pre 1940 supplied from the U.S.A. and the U.K. and perhaps only printed for made in Australia films, or is it just a simple case of none surfacing to date? If of course anyone does has any 1930's of before three sheets examples that may exist, please let us see them?
I located a couple 30s (and possibly one really early) Aussie 3 sheets:
The ever controversial Robin Hood (1938):
International House (1933):
For the Term of His Natural Life (1908):
(this is listed as coming from Ves' website but I do not see it there and cannot confirm it is actually an Aussie 3 sheet!)
WTF!? I wish! Actually not the first time something has been attributed to me which is not mine. Wouldn't bother me so much except for the fact that I WOULD LOVE TO OWN THEM!
I believe the TERM poster is with the NFSA, and can be accessed via their site. Will check later.

Why doesn't anyone believe me that this poster is more than likely a re-release poster from the late 1940's. All the reasons for me believing this can be found on my ''The Adventures of Robin Hood Australian 3 Sheet thread accessible on this forum. to check.
Interestingly there is also a rare Australian one sheet available of this title also. It has one thinking that seeing how rare this style of 1930's paper is, did they both originate from the same source at one time?
Sorry no picture of a poster to show here, and a copy of a poster may no longer even exist. The 3 sheet of Shanghai is included under accessories in a 1935 Australian press sheet, and the reason I mentioned it was to establish as almost no 3 sheets from the 1930's seem to have any images available to see, that along with the case of International House at least Paramount Pictures produced two 3 sheets in Australia during the 1930's.
In response to some information Ves has not long ago posted on The Adventures Of Robin Hood Thread that ties in with my last comment on this thread, there is some information regarding 3 sheets and other sizes of Shanghai ( 1935 ), now appearing there that may be of some interest to anyone following this thread..
Yes the Internal House O/S and 3/S came from me; my one and only consignment to heritage which turned into a nightmare. They were leftover from a shed full of 1930s posters a guy from my local surf club told me about. His aunt or grandmother had worked for a printer. They took most of the paper to the tip, not long after found these. they were badly damaged but were restored for auction. I've kept a damaged copy of each, plus a another title that i can't remember at the moment (2/3 of the three sheet). I can only imagine what might have gone to the tip.

It is distressing when one continually hears stories of the senseless dumping of movie posters that took place years years ago. Any chance of letting me know the second film's name of the second title of the two that you kept that were intact? A good reason for asking?
Picked this up. Daybill, 1sht & 3 sht all have different art. Might be an OKC.
Three completely different poster size designs as Mark said, but also of interest is that the daybill design was used on a second one sheet produced in duotone as well.

Ah yes, the gorgeous International House!
The answer will be because you can't PROVE it by producing and original...
Back to the Term poster...here it is from the NFSA site:
Based on the fact it looks like it's up next to two long ones, it would be the right size for a 3 sheet.
What site did you find it on Chris?
I'll see if I can find the details
Could put pressure on your good behaviour commitment!
I think it's a 30 x 40.
Send me the details....I feel a divorce coming on!
There was a 3 sheet poster printed in Australia by Paramount Pictures for Shanghai ( 1935 ). that starred Charles Boyer and Loretta Young.

Definitely the same pic
There is another long daybill (I forget the title now) credited to be from me and it's not...but darn I wish it was!
