  • I will reveal who the actress is tomorrow, if by then a correct answer hasn't been received.

I would really like someone to work this one ou, so I will mention that Bruce has 1147 items listed as being sold on his website listed under her name,

When you said a director/actress duo, I guessed Bergman, but I should have remembered Hugo Hass and Cleo Moore.

I can't say which movie this is, but I will guess Over-Exposed.

Incidentally, Hugo Haas was a a pretty fascinating guy! He was an actor, director, and writer from the 1920s to the 1960s. He was a native of Czechoslovakia, and in 1937, he wrote the screenplay for a movie, "Skeleton on Horseback", based on a play by Karel Capek (best remembered as the author of "R.U.R.", the first literary mention of robots), and that movie was obviously intended as an allegory against Hitler and fascism.

When Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia right after the movie was made, Haas fled to the United States, but he never achieved major prominence in movies, although he is well remembered for directing a series of movies about an old man in love with a young beautiful woman (starring Haas himself, with a series of "bad girls", including Cleo Moore)!

Some of his works include King Solomon's Mines, Edge of Hell, and Born to Be Loved. He passed away in 1968 at the age of 67.

Correct for 269, and so pleased we get to finalise this one, Cleo Moore in One Girl's Confession from 1953. Great information Bruce regarding Hugo Haas,

Cleo Moore and Hugo Haas in a scene from One Girl's Confession. Hugo Haas directed Cleo Moore in seven films released between 1952 and 1957.

One Girl's Confession is also the title of a 2023 hardcover book titled ''One Girl's Confession'' - The Life And Career Of Cleo Moore''.

A clue for 271 is a strong connection with the already answered 270 film.
  • I know, but I've already answered this time.

A backup then for down the track if no one else manages to come up with the correct answer.
  • A final clue for 271 is also set in Africa,
  • Mogambo and Grace Kelly?

As Jay mentioned it isn't Grace Kelly but Ava Gardner in the correctly mentioned film Mogambo.

Correct. Ava Gardner in Mogambo from 1953. Appearing below with Grace Kelly. Mogambo being a remake of earlier featured film Red Dust from 1932.

    Oh so close.
  • Claudia Cardinale in Circus World!

I definitely knew that because she is so incredibly pretty and I have looked at a zillion pictures of her.

I don't know why I made that error. I instantly recognized it!

Yes 272 is indeed Claudia Cardinale No worries Bruce as a slip up with the memory happens to all of us on occasions. Circus World from 1964. Claudia was certainly a beautiful looking woman

Interestingly the Australian daybill used the Claudia Cardinale pose which doesn't appear on the U.S. insert, 3 sheet or any other poster size. The Australian one sheet also used different artwork than the daybill as well.
  • For the unanswered image 273, I will mention that the cameras loved this beautiful actress who always looked magnificent when shot in colour.
  • 273.  Take a shot at it.  Early Marilyn Monroe in Ticket to Tomahawk?

Sorry, But not Marilyn. The actress we are looking for was excellent in a dramatic role opposite a great screen legend in the late 1940s.

One final clue is that this actress appeared in western remake of a famous crime film which was directed by the same director who had helmed the earlier classic film version
  • Based on your clues, I know it is Virginia Mayo, but I can't find that yellow dress anywhere!

Image 273 is indeed that of Virginia Mayo. My last clue referred to Virginia starring in Colorado Territory (1949), Raoul Walsh's remake of his earlier film High Sierra (1940).

The elusive featured scene is from Painting The Clouds With Sunshine from 1951.

Thank you for the compliment, but other than you and me your ''see earlier post'' wording will be I believe a little vague for others to figure out.
  • 274 clue is based on a real life person.

275 clue is future screen legend
