This couple of lovely legs images shouldn't present any problems in being answered.
  • 255 is Rita Hayworth in Cover Girl

It is indeed her. Cover Girl From 1944. An outstanding image I must say.

A clue for this remaining image is there was originally some controversy surrounding this scene.
  • I have a feeling (probably wrong!) that 254 is Ann Miller, but I took a quick look and could not find that image.

Sorry, but it isn't Ann Miller. A final clue the original dialogue and costume caused problems, could assist.
  • Total wild guess would be Virginia Mayo from the You'd be Surprised number from Blue Skies.
    Likely wrong, but...

Sorry not that one either. Definitely my last clue for 254 is that this actress commenced her screen career in a controversial way.
  •  256
While some members hopefully are still attempting to work out the yet unanswered 254, one additional image to test your solving skills.
  • 256 would now appear to be a difficult image to recognise, so a clue hopefully that will assist is Georgia.

A roundup of clues before I think about having to reveal the answer.

I had thought that the previous clues for 254 would have assisted, but alas this wasn't to be the case so I will now reveal the answer

The actress is Jane Russell and the film scene in question is from the Howard Hughes film The French Line from 1954.

There was originally some controversy with Jane's costume and the suggestive dialogue used in the below musical number.

This musical film received a strong Suitable Only For Adults censorship rating when released in Australia, but in the U.K. it only received a mild U certificate. Try and figure that one out.

A further clue is found fame on an island.

Even if I say so myself the last clue should go a long way towards helping to find the answer. Furthermore, the earlier Georgia clue relates to the film setting itself.
  • 256 must be (based on your clues, NOT the image) Tina Louise in God's Little Acre

Correct. God's Little Acre from 1958. The scene below features Tina Louise with Aldo Ray.

Tina Louis seen above in her best remembered roll as Ginger Grant in the hit television series Gilligan's Island ( 1964-1967 ).

Two more images to ponder. I am thinking that they both should be able to be solved.
  • 257 I am thinking older Marlene Dietrich, maybe Rancho Notorious
