  • "Another clue for 400 is she had a more famous actress sister who danced for a snake"

This took me to Teala Loring and Lisa Gaye. But I could not find either ever wearing that dress!

Is 401 Rosalind Russell in Auntie Mame?
Very well worked out Bruce in answering Rosalind Russell, but the film isn't 1958's Auntie Mame.

Rosalind Russell appears here in a scene from a non musical film. Anyone like to try and guess the film's title?
    jayn_j said:
Given the clue, I think the film is Picnic
Correct. To sum up 401 is Rosalind Russell, as seen below with actor Arthur O'Connell in the 1955 film Picnic.

On the right track with one of your suggestions being correct. How about new music craze then to hopefully help
  • Absolutely surprised that the actress in question here hasn't yet been definitely named as it is a well known film.

If the correct answer isn't forthcoming within 24 hours I will then reveal the name of the actress and the film..
  • 400 Lisa Gaye?
  • 400 Lisa Gaye?
Yes it is Lisa Gaye and the film is Rock Around The Clock from 1956.

  • Had no idea!  Used your clues and google, and got there in the end :)

I thought that I would expand on the above comments.  The two mentioned actresses and Debra Paget were sisters in real life.

Good clue. My first thought was Karen Black in 5 Easy Pieces, but I could not find it there, so maybe it is Easy Rider instead

    Two more images to ponder.
  • A subliminal memory I hope is correct! I believe 405 is not Jean Harlow, but Carroll Baker playing her!

Good memory Bruce. Carroll Baker as Jean Harlow in Harlow (1965)

  • A 404 clue is film was originally received poorly but is is now considered to be  a cult movie.

  • If 404 is "Can't Stop the Music" I would say "camp classic" would be more fair than "cult classic"

Correct. Can't Stop The Music from 1980.

Thia film is mostly referred to these days as being a cult classic, but I don't disagree with your thinking.

I have never been drawn to view the film due to all it's poor reviews.  IMDb rating is only 4.3/10.

  • 407 Julie London, Man of the West, one of the sexiest women EVER!

Julie London was born Julie Peck in 1926, and in 1943 she was working as an elevator operator and was "discovered" by agent Sue Carol (Alan Ladd's wife) and she signed a contract, and soon appeared in Esquire, and became on the top "pin-ups" during World War II.

The next year she made her film debut while still in high school, in the super low budget Nabonga. She appeared in a number of movies, but in 1947 married Dragnet's Jack Webb, and "retired".

After divorcing Webb 7 years later, she both resumed making movies AND singing in jazz clubs and releasing records, where her super sultry voice caused her to be named the most popular female vocalist for 1955, 1956, and 1957 and she sang in some movies, and also on some soundtracks.

In the 1960s she released lots of albums and she appeared in lots of TV shows (drama and game shows) often with Bobby Troup, a musician on her early albums, who she had married in 1959.

She had remained close with ex-husband Jack Webb and he cast both her and Troup in his 1972 TV show Emergency! It ran for 6 seasons, and London retired again (she had managed to have five kids along the way).

She rarely gave any interviews and never discussed the breakup of her marriage to Webb. She was a chain smoker from the age of 16, and she suffered a stroke in 1995 and got lung cancer in 1999 and passed away in 2000, at the age of 74.

Correct, and I do 100% agree with your above sexiest woman comment.  Man Of The West from 1958.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXxx

From the scene where she sings Cry Me A River in The Girl Can't Help It (1956). Once seen not forgotten.
  • A 406 clue is a close friend of John Wayne.
  • I had thought my previous clue that I provided for 406 would have helped, but it wasn't to be.
    My final clue is red.
  • Times up. I will now reveal the answer to 406 is Maureen O'Hara in The Deadly Companions from 1961. This was the first theatrical feature film to be directed by Sam Peckinpah.
