Posting Images

edited February 2015 in Hey Newbie...
There are two ways to post pictures.

Option One - The Easy Way (aka - do this one)

When you are ready to add a picture to your post/text click the image icon button - that's 5th icon from the right, for those of you who can't count (or read) - view this picture:

A box will pop up and then all you have to do is paste the url into that box - (the url the web link where your image is being hosted eg Photobucket). If you are copying from Photobucket (which is FREE and most of us use) then you copy the web address that is in the Direct box. But you MUST copy that link and then click the image icon (as instructed above) paste the link into the popup box and then...

That's it! You are now the 43rd smartest person in this forum.

Congrats.

Option Two - The Geek Way (aka - why bother)

The second way is to add this to the html code by first clicking on the source code icon |<>|  next to the 'paste text' button and then enter this code:

with your image url into the html editor.  If you check the html |<>| you will see in both cases the first automatically puts the code in and the second was manually put in.

  • Hell I just right click and copy my image from my photobucket and then paste it in the body. That seems to work. I have done the other way as well.
  • Can I send letters to you guys, this modern stuff ain't workin...
  • Paul - it's because you are copying the wrong link from Photobucket - where it says on the right 'Links', click the 'Direct' option not the IMG option.

    Nice poster BTW
  • Well you can teach an old dog new tricks, but it seems a carry on...

Yes, sorry for these posters, they were from the first page.
  • Read and understood. ..i bet i will still get it wrong though ... :-B

I am at work and I'll polish it later unless David wants to give it ago before then...  For photobucket all you need to do is click on the html box under share links, it copies...  Then on your post click the "</>" the one on the right and then paste (or "ctrl-v"),  click the "</>" again to see a preview...

nope.... still nothing... Why aren't things much more simpler...
  • Paul they are very simple... I used one of your photo seconds before writing.  Let me see if I can make a video.
  • It's a bit blurry but it should give you an idea...

  • Charlie, that doesn't happen for me, when I click on that icon, I just get a single drop down box, and when I put in the url, and click the icon again, it just disappears...

  • Yep, not working for me what so ever, is it a Mac problem?
  • I'm thinking the problem was David said to use the direct link, on re-watching your vid I noticed you used the HTML link....??

I have to say, this site is overly complicated, but I think I maybe sorted.
  • Blah Blah Blah... photo PICT1344_zpsfjvhurlhjpg Blah Blah blah... just testing
  • Crikey, is this to stop people posting much, as I can't see me pissing about like this every time I want to post a pic...
  • Think HTML for VMPF and all the rest are stupid... If you have worked in HTML, this setup is a blessing.  If you are use to working in sms short (APF) then it will be different.  You'll get it.

Click the "</>" icon.. not the picture icon.

You can do both..  >>>>Correct that... No you can't...  Must be something to do with photo bucket.

  • Ok the direct link option is a no go but if you right click and "copy url" while on you photobucket page it works...
  • I can see your frustration... :anguished:
  • Worked 1 out of three with the drop down.
  • For the record I was having the same issue as Paul (from Photobucket).  Will try later if using the HTML link helps...
  • Photobucket sucks... ???
