  • I watched Westworld the TV series last night.

    Was that it?

I'll watch another episode but I thought it was a little over hyped for what it delivered. It ain't no Breaking Bad or Ray Donovan - then again they did say it could be another Game of Thrones, and as I have never watched that series then perhaps I am missing something.
  • Hmmm...never heard of it.
  •  I was so looking forward to viewing it and will do so shortly. David I never liked MASH when I first viewed it  but it grew on me.
  • Is this based on the movie?
  • Weird!  Toggling between this site and the age and low and behold an article on Westworld!

Based on the article, not likely to be one I will be watching...

  • A series inspired by the 1973 film.

Perhaps it will, but for me it lacked a little story depth. We'll see if it develops
  • Wow! A rating of 9.4 on IMDB. But who rated the series I ask ? It appears to me it was perhaps aimed directly at our current younger audiences who lap up this sort of subject.
  • Probably too early to draw conclusions off IMDB just yet.

Then again, I look at some of the ratings on and I go WTF?! Although the problem with Netflix ratings is there is no 'It was OK' - either 'I liked it' or 'I didn't like it' - need that one in between.
  • Childhood classic...my 6-yr old boy loves it!

  • Nice...

  • Bra Boys...was on the telly last night so had it on in the background while I did other things.

Not really my kinda thing normally, but interesting to hear about a different side of surf culture I wasn't really aware of.

I am not into surfing at all, so I had never heard of any of them.  Good to hear of "bad boys" come good.

I particularly like how they feel an obligation to share their success with the younger generation coming through.

I would recommend if you are into this type of thing, but I personally can't see myself watching it again.

  • Bitter Springs is on the telly!

OMG Just couldn't stop watching Making a Murderer ... It really is gripping TV! We started watching it yesterday after lunch and decided to stay in and watch the whole lot. I am with the defense. My boyfriend think he is guilty.....oh well.

(EXTRACT FROM NETFLIX) Making a Murderer is an American documentary television. The ten-episode first season, explores the story of Steven Avery, a man from Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, who served 18 years in prison for the wrongful conviction of sexual assault and attempted murder of Penny Beerntsen, before being fully exonerated in 2003 by DNA evidence. He filed a suit against the county on this case. In 2005, Avery was arrested on charges of murdering Teresa Halbach, a local photographer, and convicted in 2007.[2] The series also covers the arrest, prosecution, and conviction of Avery's nephew, Brendan Dassey, who was also charged in the murder, largely based on his confession under interrogation.
  • Have heard good things about Making a Murderer...not seen it though.

Watched the Ali v Forman doco When We Were Kings...interesting in terms of the environment that the fight was set in and the people involved.

Then watched The Family with De Niro and Pfeiffer.  Far out that woman never ages!  Stunning...

Better than I thought it would be, but not fantastic.  For some reason the kids annoyed me a bit.  Seems to be a running theme with me and kids in films!

Love De Niro so I am a bit biased anyway.  Not his best, but he was still pretty funny.

Definitely give it a go if it's on the telly but I wouldn't go out of my way...

  • Wonderful movie! ...watch out there pilgrim!...
  • Yes...it is... :)

Disney/Pixar - what's not to love. Amazing animation

  • That sooo cute...!  Thanks for sharing David :)
  • Nearly walked out. Nocturnal Animals is a fantastic film but I found it really hard to stomach. I have zero tolerance for violence against women or children.  But oh boy... need to watch pixar / Disney now.....

  •  Hacksaw Ridge is WOW. Mel Gibson welcome back. I will be thinking about this one for a while.
  • Won't watch Nocturnal Animals, will watch Hacksaw Ridge.

Me too.  I find it too distressing, and just cannot watch it.  Looks like I'll be skipping this one too.
  • Finally watched a few on the recorder that have been sitting there for ages.

The Great Gatsby (Luhrman version) - All style, not substance...

The Wolf of Wall Street - Hated it.

In the middle of American Hustle -so far so good.  Let's see where it goes.

  • American Hustle was most enjoyable.  Enjoyed the ending...

Moved on to Zero Dark Thirty.  Thought I would like it more than I did.  Best bit was the special ops guys going in, even though I couldn't see most of what was happening.  So many aussie faces in this movie!

Finally got to The Water Diviner.  What a wonderful film.  Beautiful to look at, great actors - Olga Kurylenko was wonderful.  Couldn't work out where I knew her from, but when I looked her up - a recent Bond girl.  Yilmaz Erdogan as the Turkish commander was also a highlight.  Can't speak highly enough about this one.

Started on this one.  Why you ask I am sure...well with aussie films, I like to try to watch as many as I can.  And it's an aussie film.

Let's just say I do not have high hopes of finishing it.

  • Nocturnal animals looks interesting.
  • Water Diviner was a great film. I think with the exception of Robin Hood, I've really like all of Crowe's film.  You should check out Fathers and Daughters...
  • Yeah I am a fan too.  Really like his earlier stuff.

Will have to put Fathers and Daughters on the list!  Thanks

  • Will check Water Diviner. Heard a lot of good things but have not had to watch it yet.

    Thanks for the reminder!
