When all else doesn't work Google is great and don't be worried using it as I want the image questions answered. I also look forward to viewing it sometime down the track.

Correct and Anthropoid was only released this year, 2016. Detlef Bothe plays S.S. General Reinhard Heydrich who was the leading planner of Hitler's Final Solution and nicknamed ''The Blond Beast'' by the Nazis.

  • Thank you....!! I feel like I've achieved something today =)
  •  Images # 107 ( far top ), # 108 ( middle ) & # 109 ( just above ). Name the film titles. All images off Australian daybills. At  least one of the daybills that an image appears from is owned by a member of the forum.

  • All quiet with these three. One of our members has one of these daybills and another one is seen around a lot these days.
  • Well, I have all three of these.  Thought someone else might have a stab.

That's kind of you. O.k. some clues then.

    # 107 is from the 1940s.

    # 108 is from the 1950s.

    # 109 is from the 1960s.

  • Uhm...... uhm.......blimey...no idea... guessing...

#107 Remember Pearl Harbor _Im guessing it can be about  Pearl Harbor and sadly that's  the only movie from 40s I seem to recall about PH.

#108 Operation Pacific - John Wayne..i think this could be the one as "They were expendable" is from the 40s -not 50s..I don't remember now and I  refuse to Google a John Ford/ John Wayne film...so

    #109 .....no idea...I can't even guess...

    The End

Ps. Matt you gotta show us your daybills now:)

    107 - Wake Island from 1942

    108 - ?

    109- Submarine X-1 from 1968

  • You know what I don't get about the quizzes is that you aren't really challenged as much other than being good at google.  They are too hard to know off the top of your head and you feel guilty googling them or searching on EMP...
  • image

and Submarine X-1 is correct too.

Both correct as Matt has confirmed. Wake Island is a good film and a great Richardson poster as well. Attached is the Submarine X-1 poster that I like very much and for a Robert Burton 1960s poster it has very good artwork and they should be commended for once for their result.

A clue for # 108 is that it was released in 1952.

  • There are people who contribute to quizzes and there are those who don't. It is very obvious to me the 404 replies and 2.3K views that this quiz has to date, along with the Horror, Science Fiction and Actress Legs Quizzes  continue to be popular, regardless of in whatever manner the answers are found. Some people google but also some people know the answers without googling. If people enjoy the quizzes does it matter if they have to resort to googling. As a little research is needed in googling anyway and some knowledge is gained. It is always good surely to learn something new on the history and background of the hobby of poster collecting that members on this forum are involved in. If people aren't interested they don't have to view any of the quizzes as everyone has their own free agency to decide. Charlie is entitled to his opinion but has to be in the minority I believe.

And how google has changed the world. Cheating on school examines these days is a smart phone and googling. Back in the time had a skinny mate who wore size 18 underpants which was covered in answers..stuck on an examine question...off to the toilet for the answer. Though the staff were outside the cubicle door, underpants dont russle like paper!
    Sorry off topic !

  • I think grumpy old man status has officially moved from David to Charlie.

I think smart phones these days are required to be left at home or at the door.

    And I can't see pictures so I can't play!
  • The clue for # 108 I will repeat in that the film was released in 1952. I will also add  as my final clue the film had as a co-star a future Academy Award Oscar winning actress.

    I agree.

OK... So googling is allowed without prejudice?
  • No worries.

An answer please or Matt will be asked to supply the answer.

  • I've recently seen that daybill but I friggen can't remember!
  • Battle of midway?
  • edited July 2016

    Not Battle Of Midway.

Both the male and female leads appeared in films that starred Humphrey Bogart.

There I have given it to someone.

  • I just stumbled across this link....pure fluke of course!

    http://www.bidll.com/Listing/Details/383035/Torpedo-Alley-Daybill-1952

  • Correct. Torpedo Alley from 1952 starring Mark Stevens and Dorothy Malone.

  •                                   IS COMING.
