The above image 389 has indeed proven to have been a problem in identifying the film. I have decided now that it is time then to reveal the title of the film to be The Red Beret (1953), aka titled Paratrooper in the U.S.A

    .
  • Always though the Italians had the best artwork for this one.

A connection here with these two new images. Are you able to figure them out?
  • Ok.  Connection is Libya?

Correct. The connecting clue is Libya during  the WW11 north African campaigns .
  • I'd say Richard Burton's Raid on Rommel and George Peppard/Rock Hudson's Tobruk.
  • I'd say Richard Burton's Raid on Rommel and George Peppard/Rock Hudson's Tobruk.
Correct Wil, and it is certainly nice to see you back participating again in this quiz.

Tobruk from 1967 and Raid on Rommel from 1971.

Should be plenty to work with here.
  • I'll keep quiet. Although 393 is so well lit, almost as if by moonlight and the Commandos in 394 look as if they're collecting cockleshells. :)

    Excellent help indeed.
  • For the yet 393 and 394 unanswered images Wil has provided excellent clues that should be enough to solve the identity of these films.
  • I know from those clues, and will post if no one else does.

Anyone else though like to jump in with the answers?
  • 393 Ill met by moonlight
  • 393 Ill met by moonlight

At this point of time it would certainly appear an answer isn't coming forth for 394.

As both Wil and Bruce have indicated that they know the answer, but were refraining from answering, so to now wind up this one perhaps either one of them would like to reveal here to us the answer.
  • The Cockleshell Heroes 394

Thanks Bruce for providing the correct answer. Cockleshell Heroes from 1955.

  •  395  396
How about these two new images then?
  • edited August 2024
A clue for  395 and 396 is the two films plots are set in the same country.
  • edited August 2024
395 clue is the makers of this film made few war films, and were very well known at that time for producing films of a different popular genre.

396 clue is some controversy surrounded this American film in a foreign country on its original release.
  • I've been flying the last few days and hoped someone else would knock off these two Burma themed films.

395 is Hammers 'Yesterday's Enemy' 1959 with Stanley Baker in the lead and 396 could well be 'Objective Burma' 1945 with Erol Flynn? or something very similar.

    Both are the correct answers.

Objective Burma was banned in the U.K. after being released there in 1945 due to hostile reaction received from audiences due to the Americanization of the film.

The film was rereleased in the U.K. in 1952 with an accompanying apology

Good guess, but not that particular film.

On the right track but a different movie title we are after.
