Thanks much for the complo-mints guys. I've had this poster seemingly forever, but it's never been properly framed (and me framing it certainly doesn't mean it's "properly" framed ). It's just been put in a frame that would accommodate it. For example, it measures 39"x27.5", so it would fit in a 30x40 frame, but with blank space around the edges. A couple weekends ago I scored a 30x40 frame, and this weekend I finally got it matted. One more off the list. Now I just need to buy more walls, dammit! The poster is in kinda tough condition, as someone decades ago taped the entire border and the crossfolds with packaging tape, but it is a survivor. The english title is Magnificent Flirt, and IMDB lists it as being from 1928.
Here's a link to a website and a pretty lengthy thread they titled 1950's 1960's Hot Rod Movie Stills and Posters. The handful of pics, posters and other ephemera posted below are not mine (quite unfortunately), but they're probably the best pics from that thread, showing lots of posters "in the wild", so to speak. Again, not my posters, just cool content from the interwebs. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1950s-1960s-hot-rod-movie-stills-posters.341571/
And I believe this was a different set - different house/owner:
I'd love to get my hands on some of those, especially a poster(s) for Hot Rod.
Continuing on with posting photos from the rock-o-archives, these are from the current abode, but must've been a year or 2 back. Swing Hostess and Jive Junction 1 sheets, with a large Seeburg jukebox advertisement I got from ebay years ago:
Repros, yes, but larger and a different format than the usual 24x36. On the wall around 2010 or so methinks:
Also from the current rock-o-mansion, but from a poster swap or five ago, Dragstrip Girl insert and Hot Rod Rumble style B half sheet:
This one is many years and a handful of houses ago, but notable for the Danish/Swedish Behind Closed Shutters poster (sold, but wish I still had):
And the last one for now, a 40x60 Crooked Web and the previously seen Bad Blonde insert (in the same spot as the hot rod posters above):
Nice displays, Rock-that Swing Time hits the spot as do those Cola ads. As for that 30x40, really nice shape and it's always cool how some of the 30x40s have such different designs and colors!
Thanks, Mark. I REALLY need to bite the bullet and start taking proper photos of my posters (instead of using crappy, old ebay seller's photos), so that I can start some themed "my collection" threads. I have a pretty good handful of "swing" posters, and I could also do separate ones of bad girls, hot rods, 50's 3D movies, and maybe some other minor ones as well. If procrastination was currency, I'd be a wealthy, wealthy guy.
I think "proper" photos certainly depends on who you ask. If the lighting is good and you can see the poster it's proper.
I started to worry about the quality of my photos because of linenbacking and before and after photos. I search for about two months at quite a few goodwill stores before I found my 48 x 36 magnetic whiteboard (it was only $5!) which I mounted on the wall and either use the Nikon or my iPhone to take the pictures. And even then I don't always use it.
A sizable magnetic board would be cool. I'll have to keep my eye out for one. My grand plan is to just have clips on the back of the door of the poster lair, hang the individual posters and snap a pic and repeat many, many times. I'll have to look for an inexpensive digital camera that will download photos right to the desktop, as this business of emailing them from the iphone while effective, is a bit tedious. I'll have to employ a utility clamp light as well, because the lighting in here blows.
It's a lazy Easter Sunday in the poster lair, so I'll post a handful more images of previous poster walls from one house/decade or another.
Devil On Wheels half sheet and some stills from Teen Age Thunder, circa 2008 or so (nsfge lurking on the desktop in a few of these photos):
Renegades and Manhandled Argentinian posters (both sold somewhere along the line):
Devil On Wheels half sheet and World Fastest Indian 1 sheet (the one WITHOUT AH's gigantic mug on it):
Same spot, different posters, and kind of an odd pairing, Lady in the Death House half sheet and Suburban Mayhem 1 sheet:
Time travelling forwards to sometime within the past couple years and a few poster swaps ago in the current dwelling, an Angels of Darkness 40x60 (which would've been a much better poster without AQ on it):
And lastly for now, the current homestead, same frames/orientation as in previous posts, but this time Shamed and Good Girls Beware 1 sheets, and South Sea Sinner/Confessions of a Model inserts:
And here I am again (insert thunderous applause here). This post contains one recent hanging, one recently framed and a pic of a half sheet with a question referencing the recently framed. WTF? Stay tuned.
Jessica Rabbit came off the wall in the poster lair, as that was really the only spot I could put a 1 sheet, and I figured I could frequently swap out those to keep it fresh. Here's the first poster to go up (sorry about the reflection). Sin City 2 Gaga/Bertha 1 sheet:
Here's the matted and framed Blonde Bandit half sheet. Not hung on a wall yet, but ready to go:
For the (second to the) last entry on this post, I need your advice. I'm going to mat and frame another half sheet this weekend. Does the width of the matting in the above pic look okay, or is it too thin? Should I use a frame for the next one that will accommodate more matting, or is the Blonde Bandit in the spectrum of acceptability? Here's the next one:
And this 1 sheet will be going up on a wall (not sure which one) soon, but I thought I'd post it to compliment the Incredibles 2 poster in the other thread. It's basically fan art, kind of like Alamo Drafthouse/Mondo stuff, but it's pretty cool:
Thanks, Matt. Sorry if I was slightly misleading. I’m all set for the color of the mat. I found a darker red/maroon to match her dress, but I did want to know about the width of the mat I used for Blonde Bandit. Thanks for your input. I agree about going thinner. I wasn’t sure how BB would turn out, but I’m glad it’s okay. I’ll have to see if I have a bigger frame for Project X to accommodate wider mat.
Thanks for the kind comments, guys. With the frame selection I have, it looks like Project X is going to end up with about the same amount of matting as Blonde Bandit. I have some other larger frames that will accommodate a matted half sheet, but the matting wouldn't be very even all the way around. The top and bottom would be a couple inches and the sides would be like 4. The frame I have that will work best will allow between 1 and 2 inches of matting, and the more the merrier, as the poster is missing a corner. I'll post pics when finished.
Ves, I guess you'd consider the Gaga poster copyright infringing fan art. I think the art itself was released as legitimate advertising for the film, but probably only via electronic media. I don't think it was printed as an actual poster like the Eva Green one was. This is a 27x40 one sheet, but it's printed on vinyl and came from Thailand. I'd strongly imagine they're not licensed to be selling that image. I'm glad I got it though, as they don't appear to be on ebay anymore.

Thanks. She is a stunner. It sounds like Marv from the first movie. I have a one sheet, but I am still not convinced he was ever legitimately printed...
It's Wednesday morning about 5 a.m. for me. Having a bowl of cereal and about to get dressed and pack a lunch for work, but why not post a few more not exactly "recent" hangings?
This came from Nordic Posters a decade or 2 ago, so I assume it's Danish/Swedish, but I have no idea what their name for this particular size is. It's a little beat up, but it's pretty, and it's BIG.
Follies Girl and Louisiana Hussy 1 sheets in a stairwell:
Born to be Loved and Riff Raff Girls half sheets:
Since I likes 'em both big and bad:
Aaaannnd lastly for now, Tropical Heat Wave and 4 Girls In Town 1 sheets, flanked by a 1 sheet sized Outlaw commercial/repro poster.
Have a great day or night, guys! (depending where you are on the planet)
Yep, that’s usual hours. I’m up by 5 (usually a bit earlier if my brain can pop awake before the alarm goes off, so I don’t wake the mrs), eat, get dressed, pack a lunch and out by 6. It’s about a 30 minute drive to work (I leave a 30 minute cushion for traffic or car issues) and I punch in at 7. The upside is that my workday (at work, anyway) is over at 3:15. On days that I have to work 10 or 12 hours the alarm goes off at 3. Ouch.

Crikey, that's dribble and bib photos.

That is all.
Blonde Bandit is very nice. Loving the red!
