C382 clue is that there was also a television series adaptation of this film released in the following decade. This version was then followed, by an inferior theatrical released remake later on in the same decade. All three versions were filmed by the same Hollywood studio.
C383 clue is that a multi talented legend involved.
C382 is Man Without a Star (1955), but found with image search
Correct and thanks for persevering. My earlier clue of F.L. was referring to the singer Frankie Laine who sang the opening title song.
This film was later remade, firstly as a 1963 episode of The Virginian ( 1962-1971 ) television series titled Duel At Shiloh, then as a 1968 theatrical film called A Man Called Gannon.
I like Jimmy as well. Probably of all the films that I have seen of his White Heat would be my favourite.
White Heat is brilliant. I read once where Cagney said that when he got the script it was a standard crime movie, and that he said to director Raoul Walsh, "Why don't we make the main character a psycho?" and that the script was re-written, and if that is true it was a brilliant change!

Yes I certainly do agree that White Heat is a brilliant film. So many scenes remain in one's memory, but the following one appearing at the end of the films tops them all.
