One Sheets and Daybills - Let's compare

  • Some nice posters there Ves. I assume you know The Bonnie And Clyde one sheet is from the 1970 Australian re-release. The Richardson daybill of The Vagabond King is certainly superior to the one sheet design. Kathryn Grayson and Van Johnson appeared on stage in Castle Hill , NSW roughly in the late 1990s and I got to speak briefly to Kathryn after the show and asked her about this film. She held my hand as she spoke to me and certainly appeared to be a sweet person. Van Johnson was scheduled to speak to patrons also but was taken off to have a private meeting with Bill Collins a local film presenter on television so missed out on meeting him.
  • Looking for something else and came across a few more - lots more borrowed images:

The Long Arm Of Scotland Yard

    Appointment with Murder

    Ministry of Fear

Hmmm I probably shouldn't have included Bonnie and Clyde in hindsight...fair point.

I remember Bill Collins...used to introduce the movies on channel 10 back in the day :)

  • I was only letting you know the poster was a re-release in case you weren't aware . Of course it should ne there as it is the same design and is very nice indeed. Bill Collin s is still presenting movies to this day on the subscription television channel Fox Classics which is part of Foxtel.

Trader Horn daybill to compare with the one sheet

  • Oh definitely the daybill for Trader Horn...isn't that fantastic.

I can't make my mind up which I prefer for Ministry of Fear...I do love my Richardson's but he looks over coloured on that one!

I think at the moment the daybill is winning, just slightly...

He's still around?  Gee, I thought he must of left us ages ago!
  • I vote, Daybill. Better image of Edward G! Title script "cleaner."
  • I like the one sheet better. Lion seems out of place on the Daybill.
  • Lovely posters Ves.
Hondo, B+C is re-release? I've never seen another Australian one-sheet.
  • This one would be the original...almost the same...almost :)

  • I've always wanted the double crown:

  • Now I wish I could see!
