Story of a ww2 regiment composed of Japanese American soldiers that distinguished itself 8n the Italiwn campaign
Correct and well summoned up.
''Several of the main characters were played by actual members of
the 442nd Regimental Combat Team depicted in the film. The men saw action with
the outfit in Italy and France. ( IMDb )
In the scene above with Van Johnson is Lane Nakano the Japasese American 442nd soldier who turned actor. He was billed second in the film's credits. In real life Lane's family the Nakano's raised up from the age of twelve Guy Gabaldon, who became an ''adopted brother'' of Lane. Guy Gabeldon's world war 11 exploits was made into a feature film titled Hell To Eternity in 1960. Jeffery Hunter played the part of Guy Gabaldon.
A scene from Hell To Eternity showing the Guy Gabaldon real life character leading surrended Japanese prisoners back to U.S. military authorities.
He was officially credited in single handedly capturing civilian and military personal during the Saipan and Tinean operations. Gabaldon clained 1,500 was the number that surrended to him. He was awarded with the Silver Star medal, but this was later elevated in 1960 to the Navy Cross, the second highest U.S. military decoration awarded for valor. His commanding officer had recommended originally that Gabaldon be awarded with the the highest award, being the medal of honor, but this recommdation was overlooked.
351 looks like William Holden in Bridges ,but the Navy Rescue helicopter isn't right!
A sterling effort, but it isn't the star and the film you mentioned. The person does look somewhat like William Holden though in this size image. Keep thinking.
She was always a favorite of mine, especially after seeing her in The Court Jester. She is still alive at 97 (soon to be 98)!
Yes it is The Adventures Of Tartu from 1943. Seen behind Glynnis Johns is Robert Donat. Glynnis Johns was also a favourite of mine as well. I just loved watching her performances and listening to her husky voice.
Leo McKern in Yesterday's Enemy, with an assist from a helpful little birdie.
That was driving me nutso!
Correct answer for # 354 is indeed Yesterday's Enemy from 1959. Good work in persevering in your quest to solve it.
Leo Mckern had a long and memorable screen career and most likely will be best remembered for his work in the Rumpole Of The Bailey television series which screened between 1972 and 1992. The other actor who appears with Leo McKern in my original posted image is Percy Herbert, seen above in Mutiny On The Bounty ( 1962 ).
I am sure we have seen 356 before in this thread....
You are spot on there. Sorry an oversight my part. The film is Cross Of Iron ( 1977 ), and originally was item number 272, which was answered by Jay in May 2020. I did think earlier it did look somewhat familiar.
Correct. A Town Like Alice was originally released in 1956. I had a feeling you would answer this one Ves.
The Japanese soldier pictured above was assigned to guard and escort the female prisoners on a journey in Malaya during World War 11. The female prisoners ended up assisting and attending to the elderly soldier who became ill and later died on the journey.
My previous post was sent accidently. I did intend spelling this thread for a while, but on the subject of a short rest the following image to answer before I do this.

Let's see how we fare with these three images, initially without any clues provided?

Even though the 442nd Regimental Combat Team is the most decorated unit in US Army history, there is only one brief--VERY brief--scene of President Harry S. Truman pinning a medal on a soldier's chest, with no ceremony or dialogue. There is also an earlier reference, almost a throwaway line, by Lt. Grayson (Van Johnson) about awarding a soldier a medal.'' ( Imdb )

A clue for this unanswered image is that one of the above actors went on to star in a immensely popular long running television series.
