Been looking to a community like this for a long time.
Been collecting both US & Bollywood posters for almost 20 years (although with different paces) , I'm from Morocco , and I am hugely keen to expanding it more and more within the next months.
So, if there is any advice, sellers or simply inspiration.. Hit me !!
Oh welcome! I would love to see the Bollywood stuff!
Hi Everyone, Dublin in da house! A big thank you Charlie for the invite. I have been collecting posters and prints for a while now, pushing past 200 pieces and long enough to remember when hundred dollar one sheets could readily be had for a fiver. Did a bit of restoration work back in the 90's in NYC. Presently I am starting to frame the pieces that are in presentable condition with idea of displaying for myself and thinning out the collection. With that said this site is has been a fountain of knowledge. Thanks Again.
Hello everyone. I just joined. Thanks for the invitation. I started buying a bunch of movie posters about 20 years ago, then stopped and packed them all away. Now I'm going through them all to remember what I bought.
I looked at my folded posters already. Haven't looked at rolled ones yet. I think my most valuable poster I've found so far may be a Saul Bass-designed "In Harm's Way" one sheet.
I also bought a bunch of posters recently, mostly from the 1960's, like a 1S for Ice Station Zebra and other military-themed movies. Some of them need a bit of work, so I'm here to learn poster restoration and see what I can do. I also bought a couple of cheap posters to practice on, knowing I will probably ruin them in the process!
I see there's a lot of great information here, but it seems all separated in different posts. Is there like a start-to-finish guide for restoring movie posters here somewhere? Thanks.
Hello, my name is David. I am older (retired) and have been collecting most of my life. I collect many things: 1) Superman Australian posters, about half way complete. But also superhero and sci-fi posters from all over, 1960s and older, 2) Posters of movies featuring Black casts or with prominent graphics of Black stars from the 1960s and earlier, 3) Nancy Drew posters with Bonita Granville, 4) comic character items (Superman, Lone Ranger, Buck Rogers, Bugs Bunny etc., etc., etc.) including posters, all paper items, toys, premiums, etc., 5) Premiums such as rings, badges, membership kits, 6) Pinback buttons with comic character or movie subjects, 7) maps with fantasy places such as Buck Rogers solar system, Lone Ranger western maps, etc. I would love to hear from anyone who has any of these items for sale. I found VMPF while searching the internet for info on Australian Superman posters. I will be asking these questions and posting pictures after I dig out my posters which may take a few days.
Welcome David. You certainly collect some diverse and interesting material. Looking forward to your questions and images in the future.
On the forum within the ''Television Episodes Shown Theatrically In Australia Posters"' thread, within both two pages are Superman Australian film poster images and information. It sounds like you may have already have seen it, but just in case you haven't. you may like to take a look.
Also. in case you may be unaware of it, currently on eMoviePoster.com an Australian one sheet of Superman Flies Again is being auctioned.
Geez, apparently I've had my head up my backside for the first part of '22. Sheesh. Welcome to jesseforde, Eire Posters and David (Parkraven)!! Sorry for such a late welcome! Pull up a chair, mix yourself a drink, post some stuff and have fun!!
Sorry, I didn't keep track of all the websites and videos I saw, but, just looking for "movie poster restoration" on Youtube help a lot because we can see how they do it in real time, the process and what they use
About websites, I only keep some about preservation :
Obviously, I'm not affilated in any way with them and I didn't test any o those products
If you want to know something specific, maybe I can help; I don't have any experience whatsoever, but I have watch a lot of info and some of them are the opposite of what others say (?) For example, NEVER use a lot of water to repair a poster, but a guy submerge the poster in a tank of water (?)

Hello, I am new to the site. Thanks for having me! I am a relatively new collector and as I've been acquiring items, it occurred to me that maybe I could start restoring things. But I have no idea where to start, it's daunting. Even if I wanted to start cleaning some posters, what do I use in what amounts, how long do I soak it, it's all very confusing. I'll maybe dig more through here and see if I can find step-by-step.
That said, if there's anyone in the Boston area that wants to give me some lessons, or wants to learn with me, I'm open to anything. Thanks!
