    Ah missed that image

C212 Man who Shot Liberty Valance?

Correct. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance from 1962.

  • I meant earlier to include this image with the C212 The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance answer acknowledgement.
  •  A clue for C209 is that a song was specially written for the film.
  • As possibly nobody would appear to be going to answer C209, perhaps Bruce who is holding back would kindly provide us with the answer,This then would finalise this current batch. Once this one is answered, I will then will then add another four new additional images to the thread.

O.k. then, a final clue for C209  The song I referred to reached No.1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. If one can work out the name of this song it should immediately provide you with the answer.

I am surprised that an answer hasn't been forthcoming for this classic film..
  • Well, the clues lead me to think Charade,  but I don't recall a scene like that and cant find any smoking ogun

    And an interesting quote:
It was, however, ineligible for the Oscar due to the fact that a nominee must have written a song exclusively for a film. “Mrs. Robinson” apparently didn’t fit the bill.

BTW,  well played. Totally got me

Thanks for pointing out the background to the Mrs. Robinson  film usage.

I am glad that the image had got you involved.

  •  C213  C214

     C215  C216

Four more images to figure out. I am confident that with these four the answers will be forthcoming  without any clues required, so let's prove me right.

I am thinking that one additional. and a most likely more difficult image to challenge you, would make things more interesting. This following film was critically received in its day, but most likely not too well remembered today.

  • c213 Good Will Hunting
  • c213 Good Will Hunting
Correct. Good Will Hunting from 1997.

C216 - There Will Be Blood (2007). A Paul Thomas Anderson film I still haven't seen but want to. I'll get around to seeing it one day. I only know it from the images.

C215 - I'll be kicking myself when this is revealed. I've seen the image but can't remember what film it's from.

Correct for C216, My wife was a great fan of Daniel Day Lewis and had seen this film with a close female friend, who also is a fervent DDL fan as well. A film that I have also missed out on so far seeing that hopefully I will also get to catch up on one day. .

Regarding C215. all I will say at the present time is that the film is extremely well known, with film followers, right up to this present day
  • I think C215 is an MGM musical, was thinking Singin' In The Rain because of this image but not sure I'm right.

Good guess, but unfortunately not correct. I will allow some extra time for others to provide the answer. An extra image clue will follow if an answer isn't received within a few days.

Correct, and I assume that you are referring to the 1954 version.

  • Clue for C214 is a one man's effect on American politics.

Clue for C217 ( earlier not numbered ) is pre royalty.

  • C214. Mr Smith Goes To Washington.

    Peter

A final clue is to work out what has the police's attention.
  • Pre-royalty...thinking Grace Kelly...but no closer to guessing.

You are spot on with Grace Kelly. Pre-fame as well if that helps.
  • Would the police be looking at this from Fourteen Hours (1951)?

I should have just searched her films a bit more thoroughly.

Would the police be looking at this from Fourteen Hours (1951)?

I should have just searched her films a bit more thoroughly.

Yes indeed  C217 is 14 Hours ( aka Fourteen Hours ). Full marks for not giving up.

Grace Kelly pictured here in a scene from the film with James Warren.

For those who may be interested the film was remade for television as Man On A Ledge( 1956 ). The 20th Century Fox Hour was an anthology series that ran for two series between 1955-1957. It consisted of some new material, but mainly they adapted and remade past successful 20th Century Fox feature films. I have located that at least sixteen of the eighteen titles from series one received a theatrical release in Australia,

  •  C218  C219

     C220  C221

For these new images taken from four very well known films, I am thinking that they should be able to be answered without too much of a problem.

     C222

An extra film image to perhaps challenge you. Most likely not having  a classic film status or being well known , but nevertheless it is a well made and regarded film directed by a great film craftsman. The two pictured  actors and the uniforms that they are wearing should assist in finding an answer.
