#148 just hit me in the face today.  Kim Novak in Pal Joey.  Like the film a lot, but 'kangaroo' is a bit misleading.
How so ? I had thought as joey was a name for a baby kangaroo it was a good clue and it worked anyway. Pal Joey was from 1957 and Rita Hayworth received top billing over Frank Sinatra.

  • # 146. Final clue is that the actress won an Academy award the same year she appeared in the above film.

  • 147. Final clue is these legs didn't make it to a sequel.

  • 147 kill bill volume  1

Correct and good man Sven for answering. Kill Bill Volume 1 was released in 2003.

  • 142:

143 - extra credit if you get the legs in the picture as well:

    142. Juliette Lewis in Whip It!

    143. The legs on the couch belong to Sydney Tamiia Poitier while legs in the photo above her belong to Bridgette Bardot, from the film Death Proof.

  • I would have never guessed either of the two.
  • # 149. Name the actress in the centre of the chorus girls and the film title.

    # 150. Name the actress and the film. Look familiar ?

  • #149:  I love musicals.  Olivia N-J in Xanadu

  • 150  I'm gonna say Bridgette Bardot but I have no idea what movie.

Correct and Xanadu from 1980. Wishing Olivia Newton John all the very best and for her health problems to improve.

  • 150  I'm gonna say Bridgette Bardot but I have no idea what movie.

Correct actress but  how can I steer you to the correct answer.

  • # 150 final clue is - Left the house behind and two of seven.

    # 146. Final clue is that the actress won an Academy award the same year she appeared in the above film.

The answer for 146 is Gina Davis from the film ''Earth Girls Are Easy'' ( 1988 ). Gina won a best supporting actress ''Oscar'' for her performance in ''The Accident Tourist'' in the same year.

  • Never would have got that...been years since I've seen that one!
  •

     # 150 answer is Brigitte Bardot in Doctor At Sea ( 1955 ). Ves guessed is was Brigitte but not the film. The clues ''steer'' and ''left the house behind and two of seven'' didn't have the desired effect. ''Doctor In The House'' then  ''Doctor At Sea'' followed which was the 2nd ''Doctor'' entry in a series of seven films.

  • 151.

    152.

Name the actresses and the films.

  • #152:  Jennifer Lopez in Shall we Dance (2004)

An OK, but not great musical.  I never believed in the main characters and the plot seemed a bit forced.

    Jay

Please see the 1996 Japanese movie it was based on. It is a far superior movie, and I found it delightful.

It will be diminished because you will know some of the plot twists in advance, but I think you will still like it a lot.

Also, amazingly, there is another excellent ballroom dancing movie, Strictly Ballroom, from Australia, which I highly recommend (and fortunately there is not yet a mediocre U.S. remake).

  • I agree.  Sreictly Ballroom is a very good watch.  I have it on laserdisc (which dates both it and me)
  • New Steps! New Steps! New Steps!  Cracker of a film that Strictly Ballroom!

    151.  The chick at the start of Goldfinger that gets painted gold...best you will get from me.

Correct with Richard Gere the dancing partner.

New Steps! New Steps! New Steps!  Cracker of a film that Strictly Ballroom!

Goldfinit wasger from 1964 is of course correct and seeing you know the film and the role the actress played Ves, for the record Shirley Eaton played the roll.
  •  153  154

Name the actresses and the films. A clue is in the image and is immediately visible in # 153, and for # 154 what can Ii say.

  • 154. Sonia Krueger in Strictly Ballroom.
  • beat me to it.  She plays Tina Sparkle.  I'd have hit on that one even if we hadn't just been discussing it.
  • #153:  Boy on a Dolphin (1957)  Sophia Lauren

  • 154. Sonia Krueger in Strictly Ballroom.

Yes Sonia Kruger from Strictly Ballroom ( 1992 ) is correct. An acknowledgement that Jay knew the answer as well. I love the movie and seeing the film was being discussed elsewhere on the forum I thought I would throw it in.

Correct and Alan Ladd was a last minute replacement for his role in the film. I have read the following story about behind the scenes on Boy On a Dolphin. ''The film crew dug a trench for Loren to walk in so Ladd would appear taller.

I watched an episode of Newhart (the first one) this weekend.  Mr Carlson got a date with Bob's secretary (Marcia Wallace).  He was wearing 4" lifts to avoid being embarrassed.  They ended up going to a Japanese restaurant where the hostess asked him to remove his shoes.

I remember similar stories about Tom Cruise who was generally shorter than his co-stars.
