the room my wife has graciously allowed me to dedicate to my hobby.

I know-it's a nice place to concentrate on posters or grab a few mins of quiet or sports :) ...getting ready to mount a small flat screen on the wall.
Here's a pano of the room...it always seems to be a bit messy... :D

  • Thanks Rosa and Sven, appreciate it!

And the video segment left me speechless, David! Thx! ;)

Holy shit, you can't go sharing pics like that - have you no consideration for the rest of us that are working out of a room the size of a linen cupboard?!
  • Right.  I'm moving in!...

It's funny how we think our own place is a mess with posters and tubes lying around the place...yet when we see others have the same mess. It's a relief....and totally cool.

    Ves was cool.

But she cleaned her dining table.

Yeah...um...it's a bit covered again.  This time with rolls and rolls of crap posters I can't decide what to do with!

    OVER IT!

Mark's room I would consider very tidy! :)  Except for maybe all the tubes lying around,

Thanks all...I wish I had more room for storage, I'm looking for a flat file cabinet locally, used of course to begin storing flat the linenbacked items I'm beginning to accumulate. It's kinda clean & messy...I never get to spend as much time as I'd like to...
  • I have one small corner that has about 20 or so tubes.

@David, how have you transitioned to your new house this storage area?

  • You guys should start a poster room thread...

You started a "poster lair" thread, which seems adequate. It's where I found the picture of David's mountain of tubes...

All the posters that were in those tubes were all sold; the tubes that were left over are almost all reused or thrown out due to poor quality; basically when I shifted all I really threw out was about 20 or so vinyl banners and everything else moved with me. It's all in (relative) order in a much smaller space - I guess we expand/contract according to our environment.

Well you need to post you lair...
  • Restoration beginning on The Jackpot.
    Resto text near bottom.
    BEFORE

    AFTER

  • The Jackpot-paper infill.
    BEFORE

    AFTER

  • Fantastic Mark! I would be happy with the infill. Its enough to hide the defect but not over done. Sometimes less is best for poster Conservation!
  • ^ Agree.  Looking forward to seeing the results  Mark
  • Thx Sven & Rosa-progress is going nicely on The Jackpot this weekend. I've still got 3-4 pieces of paper infill to put in...
.....and Ive been using watercolor pencils on the Methylcellulose infill for then first time...
...and then I've got to air brush the borders which will be more taping, some masking of large areas, and using some liquid frisket...all loads of fun & new experiences!

And of of course with pro & college football season upon us here in the states, I get a bit distracted! =)
  • Train Robbers-Yugo. Cut down.
Before-needed some fold line pencil infill.

    After-

  • Wowzers, very impressive Mark
  • Good work. It really looks great. Ill take it !
  • Nice work, Mark.
    I admire your devotion.
  • Thanks David & Rosa-I really like the horizontal layout of the Yugo Train Robbers-more actually than the US 1 Sht.

Thanks Ted, appreciate it--- btwn long hrs at work, kids, and other life factors it's a lot fun, but a time consuming hobby.
  • Seven Brides For Seven Brothers-US 1 Sht-1954

this was bought with 23 stickers on backside to repair/reinforce/prevent fold line separation. 2 hours to remove and another hour to gently sand glue residue where tape has been on folds-extremely time consuming & stressful.

Stickers removed & glue residue sanded down as much as possible & not create any more tears/separations.

  • Ready for an early Sunday morning wash.

After a wash process which pushed out a lot of acids in the paper during the deacidification process & a very successful bleaching all the fold lines held together and it was successfully mounted.
( I waited longer this time so the poster had dried significantly more---than The Jackpot--- before application of the paste---it mounted with much reduced fold lines...)

it will require pencils, paper infill on the edges, compound infill in some of the center cross folds, and some paint & airbrushing---but I'm very pleased the wash process was good.
  • Yes! Great result Mark!
  • Bless your beautiful hide....that looks marvellous.
  • Well done Mark awesome, truly!
