Have found another RKO 6 star logo appearing on an incredibly scarce herald from Poland. The film is Roberta ( 1935 ) but it would have been released later in the 1930s I am sure. We now have the 6 star RKO logo printed on Czech, Swedish, French and Polish posters.

Have since discovered a Bringing Up Baby ( 1938 ) six star logo RKO poster from Spain. This now means we know 6 star RKO logos were printed on Czech, Swedish, French, Polish and now Spanish posters between the late 1930s and very early 1940s. I am wondering if there are any other European countries who may have printed any 6 star logo RKO posters? Please keep your eyes out and if you spot any any other countries with RKO 6 stars posters please inform us here along with any other titles I haven't listed  from the currently known five countries
  • Master Race 1944 RKO four star 3 Sheet

  • Thanks John. The 4 star period when they were printed on RKO Australian 3 sheets appears to correspond with when they were used on the RKO one sheets. Daybills as previously mentioned were a different story.

An update on RKO 4 star logo films. I now have images for 28 Australian RKO Australian one sheets all with the 4 stars appearing on them. The films were released between 1936 and 1948.

For the record one RKO film The Arizonian released in Australia in 1935 has no star on the one sheet. One sheets previous to 1935 were without any stars also.

43 RKO films that I have images of for released RKO Australian one sheets from 1949 to 1958 are all without any stars at all which includes two re-issues of 1940s films in the 1950s..

Please post  images of any RKO Australian one sheets from anytime that I haven]t previously  mentioned on this thread. One recent find I need to add is My Forbidden Past an RKO Australian one sheet from 1951 without the stars.

Not enough examples regarding Australian three sheets but they appear to have followed the same pattern as the one sheets. I have located one mid 1940s three sheet with the four stars appearing and five posters from the 1950s without any stars at all.

As previously mentioned RKO daybills were produced for only a short period of time in Australia between late 1930s and the early 1940s with the four stars appearing. One found exception only was in the late 1940s when I am sure it was a  printing error from a printer who was printing the four star one sheets for RKO but very few daybills and was in a mistake when added on to the daybill. At some stage I hope to speak more about the RKO four star daybills and list examples with years and more iinformation.

One more RKO Australian one sheet with 4 stars printed on it is The Falcon Takes Over ( 1942 ) that I have just noticed David had posted elsewhere on the forum in the past. This poster with 4 stars falls within the 1936-1948 period and now makes a total of 29 one sheet posters with  4 stars and posters without 4 stars zero.
  • Yay, 4 stars win!  =)

    wait...what?
  • David do you mind informing me how many different The Falcon series Australian one sheets you have and their titles please or ever better their images ?
  • Just two Lawrence, the rest are US1SH (my preferred paper for that series). The other Aussie 1SH was by 20th Century.

  • Thanks. As I thought a nice poster.
  • Just read the neat tagline - ''The Hottest DATE Mr.Suspense EVER HAD ... WITH  Miss Mystery".

John has a 4 star RKO 3 sheet for Marine Raiders from 1944. It is interesting in the fact that in 1944 RKO were producing 3 sheets with the 4 star logo on them as well as their one sheets. If anyone else has any RKO 3 sheets from any period I would like to see the images.

I have just noticed John has another 4 star RKO 3 sheet titled The Master Race also from 1944.

Image John supplied earlier on in the thread.
  • It's a 6 Star RKO 3sheet, I believe 1 set of stars were on the right hand side...

    ...just sayin'
  • Interesting to note that the US1SH has no RKO stars yet the AU1SH has four.

I have never sighted the original Australian one sheet image and as I would love to add the image of it to my collection, would you be as kind as to produce the image here as well for all to see?
  • One day....but it looks nothing like the US 1SH, pretty much a full version of the Daybill (which has zero RKO stars).

All makes sense to me. I haven't seen the Australian daybill you refer to also. It would be most appreciated if you are able to show us the daybill image and the one sheet here on this thread sooner than later -please.

Thanks David and apparently missed it at the time, The dreadful Ray films daybill re-release was copied badly from this design. Still please for the one sheet.
  • Another 4 star RKO 3 Sheet. Thanks John.

  • The 4 star project of mine is ongoing and is a top priority with me so if any member purchases or stumbles across an  Australian RKO daybill, one sheet or 3 sheet not previously mentioned on this thread please let download an image here on this thread. Thanking any contributions in advance.
  • Great and thanks David. The 4 star and non 4 star posters fall within the time span that they were used on one sheets and daybills in Australia. The Arizona Legion from 1939 missing the logo should have been 4 star.

Guess we'll never really know.  ;)

Shame, because what I do have is awesome looking (colours do pop and design great too)

You are right about the logo, unless another complete copy surfaces.  Although not complete a nice poster nevertheless, even in it's current state and possibly the only one in existence.
  • Found these when looking for pics of the lewtons...

  • Suspicion daybill too...
  • Great images Ves. Love Affair ( 1939 ) was remade by the same director Leo McCarey as An Affair To Remember in 1957. The three daybills plus Suspicion all fall within the time span RKO displayed 4 star images on their daybills in Australia..
