  • 168 -  Ann Margaret in Viva Las Vegas (1864)

A guilty pleasure of mine with the pair, the car racing and the songs

  • 169 looks familiar but I can't place it!
There was a remake of this film released 35 years later.

Correct, but the year was 1964 of course which is what you were intending to say.  :)  I agree 100% with your commrnts and the wonderful Ann Margret was certainly the most exciting actress to appear in a film playiing opposite Elvis.

  • # 169 final clue is that the film was adapted from a successful and initially notorious novel.
  • Aha!  Postman always rings twice...the gorgeous Lana Turner
  • Aha!  Postman always rings twice...the gorgeous Lana Turner
It certainly is Lana from the original 1946 version of The Postman Always Rings Twice, seen below with John Garfield.

    !70                                                                            & 171

There shouldn't be any problems in finding the answers here for these two.

    172. On the other hand I would think this one as perhaps being a little more difficult though, but one never knows.

Always up for a challenge.  I believe it is Faye Spain in God's Little Acre (1958)

    Can only find small images

but IMDB has a 8x10 glossy with a similar, and much better image

  • 170.  Emma Stone in La La Land.

Good work and it is Fay Spain shown in your above posted image with Buddy Hackett.

Another image of Fay Spain showing a little more that her legs in this scene from the film.

Correct and La La Land ( 2016 ) is the film that at the 2017 Oscar ceremony was incorrectly named Best Film instead of Moonlight. Emma Stone seen below dancing with Ryan Gosling. I personally thought it was a great film.

Yes, it is indeed Mariln Monroe as she appeared in the early Cinemascope film River Of No Return from 1954. Apart from Marilyn some magnificent scenery appears in this film.

                    173                                                   & 174

Last two entries for a while. Both famous actresses, but one of them usually was cast in more sexier roles that the other throughout their careers.
  • The first one sure looks like Deborah Kerr from From Here to Eternity.

    # 173 is certainly the lovely Deborah Kerr from the 1953 film From Here To Eternity, seen below with Burt Lancaster. Well remembered Bruce.

  • #174 - Sophia Loren in Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (1963)

The only tie I found to the movie title was on this French Vogue article

Correct and thanks for the article. I noticed it has a major error in the captionIng of one the images though of Sophia.

Incorrectly listed as 6 / 25 Sophia Loren in Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow ( 1963 ). This scene is from The Millionairess ( 1960 ). A major error from French Vogue magazine one would have to think.

  • 175

Classic 1930's ''Golden years of Hollywood'' film musical promotion image. Very nice shapely legs. Any idea of the  name of the actress and the film?
  • I'm thinking pre-code Busby Berkley, possibly Joan Blondell.  I looked at images for 42nd street, Golddiggers of 1933, Dames and Footlight parade without seeing that costume.

Haven't given up, but out of time today.

You are certainly on the right track with your thinking. I believe that the image is misleading though. The actress appearing in the image may or may not have worn the costume in the film. This image could have been shot during a costume tryout or just from a film shoot arranged for publicity purposes only.

It does happen though that something similar to this costume can be located by searching Google, but is worn by someone else in the film other than the actress depicted here.

  • edited August 2020
OK, with a bit more digging:

Not sure of the film.  She was in all of the ones I mentioned and this image is not tied to any film.

  • Good detective work Jay. 175 is indeed Ruby Keeler and the film being promoted is Dames ( 1934 ), which you had earlier mentioned as being part of  the searching process that you had conducted.

Somewhat similar styled outfit to the one Ruby Keeler is pictured wearing, as worn by one of the chorus girls in Dames.

  •  176
     177  178
     179

Four more sets of legs to ponder that I am thinking on the whole shouldn't present too much of a problem in finding an answer for.
  • edited August 2020
Ah, which one to do?  I'll take #177

Nancy Kwan: The World of Susie Wong (1960)

  • Clues for -

176 married her boss in real life.

178  is an Academy winning actress.

179  is also an academy awaard winning actress.

  • Final clue for 176 is that the actress reprised the same role in a sequel.

Final clue for 178 and 179 is that both films definitely share something in common in their titles.
  • Your clue likely gave it to me for 176!

Quando le Donne Avevano la Coda with Senta Berger

Great answer Bruce, but your answer, also titled in English When Women Had Tails ( 1970 ), unfortunately isn't the correct one.

The actress we are looking for is American, but the film comes from around the period  your answer is from.

  • Then how about Linda Harrison in Planet of the Apes?
